Newcastle United are bidding to lay down a marker of sorts against Brighton this afternoon.

The in-form Magpies have yet to beat a team in the top half this season but this does not feel like the worst time to face Graham Potter's side, who have lost three on the bounce and won only won of their last eight games in all competitions.

Brighton have not looked quite as solid since Dan Burn left the Seagulls to join his boyhood club on deadline day.

The big defender is expected to start against his former side at St James' Park while Allan Saint-Maximin and Javier Manquillo are pushing for a start.
