Half-time ratings

Jordan Pickford - 6

Made a great save to deny Joelinton to keep the scores at 0-0 which earns him an extra point, but his distribution needs to improve in the second half.

Seamus Coleman - 7

Getting down the flank with a lot of promise in the opening 45 minutes, including a great run and cross into the box which maybe should have been better capitalised upon.

Yerry Mina - 6

A shaky start in terms of his passing but he recovered well to show promising moments in a physical battle with Chris Wood. However, his evening was again cut short through injury, which will be a big blow to Everton.

Michael Keane - 6

Winning a lot of headers in the back line to nullify some of Chris Wood's effect, but his ability on the ball hasn't reached the required levels as of yet.

Mason Holgate - 6

Played a pivotal role in Everton taking the lead before being very unfortunate in doing the same for Newcastle's equaliser. Solid enough, but a few dodgy moments mixed in.

Andros Townsend - 6

Hasn't looked out of place in a left wing-back role, barring maybe getting caught up the field on a couple of occasions. A solid start, however.

Allan - 6

As combative as you'd expect and some nice quick passes in there, but he's perhaps not been as composed as he was on Saturday afternoon.

Andre Gomes - 6

Not at the levels that he reached on Saturday just yet, with some good passes and touches mixed with more lazy attempts.

Demarai Gray - 6

Showed some good touches and moments up until he picked up an injury. His attempts to run off the problem unfortunately didn't work, and Everton will have to hope that it's not a bad one.

Richarlison - 6

Really putting in a lot of work at the top end of the pitch and is linking up well with other members of the front three at times.

Anthony Gordon - 8

Hardly put a foot wrong in the first half. Very bright and energetic, and Everton's goal came from another of his set pieces.

SUBS

Dele Alli - 6

Hasn't had much opportunity to show off his qualities as of yet.

Jarrad Branthwaite - 6

Has slotted into the back three comfortably and might be busy throughout the second half.
