Nick Kyrgios cant resist offer to Kate Middleton after emotional
Kate Middleton handed over the trophy to Carlos Alcaraz as he defeated Novak Djokovic in the men's final on Sunday - and Aussie tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios couldn't resist making an offer to the Princess of Wales

Nick Kyrgios has offered to coach Kate Middleton following the Princess of Wales' emotional return to Wimbledon on Sunday.

The Princess handed over the trophy to Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court, after his victory over Novak Djokovic made it back-to-back titles on SW19 for the Spaniard. For Kate, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis club, it was just her second public appearance after her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

She was joined by daughter Princess Charlotte and her sister, Pippa Middleton, wearing a purple dress by Safiyaa and was handed a standing ovation as she made her way into the Royal Box pre-match. She was again cheered as she made her way onto Centre Court to hand over the trophy to Alcaraz.

And Kyrgios, runner-up at Wimbledon in 2022 and notorious for his 'bad boy' antics, declared on commentary for BBC: "Maybe I’m a little bit too volatile… But look, I’ve got a lot of time on my hands at the moment so I’m happy to coach [Kate Middleton]."

The Aussie, who missed this year's championships due to injury but has been hitting in practice with Djokovic, then delivered a killer punch line: "It’ll be more fun being coached by me than it would by [Roger] Federer!"

Kate previously took part in some tennis sessions with the Swiss legend.

Alcaraz proved too good for Djokovic with a straight sets win, in stark contrast to the pair's five-set classic 12 months ago.

The 21-year-old Spaniard becomes just the second man in the open era after Roger Federer to win his first four grand slam finals, while he has outdone the great Swiss, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal by reaching that landmark before his 22nd birthday.

Alcaraz said: “Honestly it is a dream for me winning this trophy. I did an interview when I was 11 or 12 and said my dream is to win Wimbledon. I’m fulfilling my dream. For me this is the most beautiful tournament, the most beautiful court and the most beautiful trophy.

“Djokovic is an unbelievable fighter, I knew he was going to have his chances. It was difficult but I tried to stay calm going into the tie-break and tried to play my best tennis. I was glad at the end I could find the solutions.”

Reflecting on his 10th Wimbledon final, Djokovic said: Not the level of tennis I wanted. It wasn’t up to par from my side but credit to Carlos for playing some incredible tennis, some very complete tennis from the back of the court, serve, I mean he had it all today.

"I tried to push him, I saved three match points and extended it, but it wasn’t to be.

"He was an absolutely deserved winner today, so huge congratulations to him for amazing tennis. And to his team, Juan Carlos [Ferrero] and everyone, his family, you guys are doing an amazing job. It’s a one-man show when you’re on the court.

"Only 21 years old age, it’s incredible, keep it going and we’ll see a lot of you, I’m sure.”
