Ex-Scotland minister called Boris Johnson 'f***ing clown' in 2020, reveal chats

Former Scotland minister Nicola Sturgeon branded the former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a "f***ing clown" during the Covid lockdown in 2020 over his "incompetence" in handling the pandemic.

As per an Independent.co.uk report, a WhatsApp exchange between Sturgeon, the Scottish National Party leader, and her top adviser, Liz Lloyd, at the time of the second Covid lockdown showed these bombshell messages against the then UK Prime Minister for his Covid handling.

In the texts, as per reports, Sturgeon said that Johnson's address announcing a second national lockdown on October 31, 2020 was "f***ing excruciating" and "awful".

"His (Boris) utter incompetence in every sense is now offending me on behalf of politicians everywhere. He is a "f***ing clown"," Sturgeon told Lloyd over WhatsApp texts.

Multiple controversial messages between Sturgeon and her top aide were showcased on screen at the UK Covid enquiry on Thursday.

The chats shared at the enquiry also revealed the extent to which Sturgeon and her officials discussed the political implications of pandemic policies. The former Scottish minister and her close aide were also discussing and comparing the eases in restrictions during the pandemic in Scotland and that in the UK.

Discussing calls between the governments, Sturgeon said that Boris Johnson "was not well briefed, was not listening -- engagement with him became slightly pointless." To which, Lloyd replied, "They did not get us anywhere".

Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson's ties throughout their association were not always smooth, as per reports.
