Nottingham Forest handed chance to sign dangerous January
News from the City Ground as Nottingham Forest recruitment department prepares for a busy summer transfer window in the Premier League

Nottingham Forest have the chance to reignite interest in Werder Bremen forward Marvin Ducksch for a cut price £5 million, it is claimed.

Forest had to abandon a December transfer chase for the 30-year-old striker when they were charged with breaching Premier League profit and sustainability rules. But a buy-out clause can be triggered at the end of this season, reports the Sunday Mirror.

Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to be searching for attacking reinforcements this summer amid continued speculation over the future of Divock Origi. Either way, they are preparing for life in the top flight again after results this weekend meant that all-but an unprecedented turn of events could see Forest drop into the bottom three.

Ducksch has scored 12 and set up another seven in the Bundesliga this season, making 31 starts plus a cameo from the bench. He was handed a first call up to the Germany senior squad in November, having played for the country at youth level.

A Bundesliga profile piece gave an insight into his style of play as "more of a second striker than an out-and-out centre-forward". He is known as a set piece specialist and has won comparisons to Croatia international Andrej Kramarić, who spent a season with Leicester City before making his name at Hoffenheim.

Clemens Fritz, Werder's sporting director, has highlighted his "incredibly dangerous" and unpredictable movement in the final third and a knack for creating space.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has said previously: "He's very good from set pieces and is a good finisher. He knows Fülle [Füllkrug] very well - that could help us. He's got that unpredictability factor and can be a real asset, especially as a substitute."
