Forest edge past Bristol City in FA Cup on penalties
Nottingham Forest edged past Championship Bristol City in a penalty shootout to set up an FA Cup fifth-round tie with Manchester United.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored the winning spot-kick for the hosts, with Sam Bell having seen home goalkeeper Matt Turner save his effort.
Divock Origi's close-range effort had put Forest in front only for Jason Knight to level six minutes later.
And the sides could then not be separated until the dramatic finale.
It was far from a dull stalemate, with both teams spurning a succession of good opportunities to win the encounter before and during extra time.
Perhaps fuelled by a sense of injustice - with Liam Manning's side convinced Belgium forward Origi had diverted Felipe's near post flick in with his hand when scoring his first goal since arriving from AC Milan in the summer - the Robins drew level almost immediately.
Turner could only push Andy King's thumping 25-yard shot against his post and Bell was able to steer the rebound into the path of Knight, who finished from 10 yards.
The visitors then enjoyed the better of things for long periods against a Forest side showing eight changes from their Premier League draw at Bournemouth.
Tommy Conway forced Turner into a good reaction stop while Anis Mehmeti had three efforts well saved by the American, who was aiming to impress after losing his place to new signing Matz Sels last weekend.
With the contest threatening to go away from Forest, the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Neco Williams, Awoniyi and Nuno Tavares made a difference after being introduced by boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Williams twice went close to scoring, while Tavares saw visiting goalkeeper Max O'Leary palm his blistering long-range effort to safety.
However, the Robins, who were looking to eliminate more than one top-flight opponent in the same FA Cup campaign for the first time since 1919-20, will rue missed chances in extra time - with Tavares preventing Wells from tapping in and Harry Cornick unable to hit the target from a Wells cross late on.
