AI-powered NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 feature improves over standard denoising techniques.

The RTX Remix is NVIDIA’s effort to breathe new life into old games using modern technology. The project targets the modding community and individual users seeking to revisit old favorites with higher resolution textures, new lighting, and even ray tracing. The latest update introduces NVIDIA’s technology, part of the DLSS 3.5 suite, called Ray Reconstruction.

Firstly, it’s worth noting that Ray Reconstruction only functions on RTX cards. However, unlike Frame Generation, which is exclusive to the RTX 40 series, the RR technology also works with RTX 20 cards, so that alone is a significant advantage.

With the RTX Remix modkit now updated with Ray Reconstruction, users can enhance the quality of ray-traced models with just a few clicks. This AI-trained technology is superior to traditional hand-tuned denoisers for ray tracing, claims NVIDIA. Modders will now have a tool that requires no manual tuning and adjusts automatically to the scene.

NVIDIA is also introducing a new Toolkit and Runtime (programs used by RTX Remix), enhancing image quality, expanding compatibility, and simplifying the modding process. These tweaks include support for Steam Deck and Linux AMD Users, thanks to optimizations for RADV drivers. Additionally, updates cover lighting, terrain baking, and texture tagging processes.

This is all possible because RTX Remix is open-source, and NVIDIA actively seeks support from modding communities to enhance the game-remixing tool and introduce new features. For those who aren’t modders but still want to enjoy old classics with new hardware and technologies, downloading a mod from platforms is a simple solution. You can download these mods from ModDB.
