Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can use secret weapon to instigate Manchester United turnaround
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure at Man United but he still has plenty of things left to try.

Not a lot has gone right for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season and he still couldn't even catch a break during the international break, though many might argue he's used all his luck in surviving the sack.

Yet, as he remains Manchester United manager, not much is going his way as another break from the action has seen him lose yet another player to injury.

Coincidentally, it has once again happened to a French player and this time it's Paul Pogba who has suffered a blow as he injured his thigh while hitting a volley in training and now faces two months on the sidelines.

He joins fellow countryman Raphael Varane is also on the sidelines as well as Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw, who could all be unavailable for United's return to action against Watford on Saturday.

Potentially having four such important players out when Solskjaer is so desperate for a return to winning ways is far from ideal but, luckily for him, he is blessed with a massive squad with plenty of options to replace them.

The Norwegian has so many players at his disposal that several have hardly played a minute this season, while some haven't got on the pitch at all.

One such player is promising youngster Amad, though that's no one's fault.

With his route to the first-team blocked by new arrivals, the teenager was all set to join Eredivisie side Feyenoord on loan in the summer but a horribly timed thigh muscle injury scuppered those well-intended plans.

So instead of gaining some valuable first-team experience, Amad has had to spend the first half of this season working his way back to fitness but is now finally back and is vying for his chance.

The way he has been playing, both in training and for the Under-23s, means it shouldn't be long until he finally does.

In his second game back from injury for Neil Wood's side, he played a starring role in a 3-2 win over Leeds United. He slotted in the opener with a calm finish after rushing through on goal and laid on the second as he went through again but unselfishly laid it off for Charlie McNeill to dink home.

Amad Diallo scored twice and grabbed an assist on his return against Leeds

Leeds equalised once again but it was Amad who settled matters in the final minutes with a frankly ridiculous goal. After controlling a floated ball on his chest on the edge of the area, he juggled it past a defender not once, not twice but three times before finally lashing into the bottom corner.

The Ivorian was a constant threat throughout the match as well as he's clearly a cut above Under-23 level and his quick feet have even been getting the better of his senior teammates in training matches at Carrington.

Competition for places in attack may well be fierce, with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jesse Lingard hardly getting any game time as it is, but what's stopping Solskjaer from giving Amad a chance?

He may not be ready to be a regular, but his directness on the ball, raw pace and dazzling dribbling could bring an unknown quality to the United attack to put opponents on the back foot. Especially tired defences as games wear on.

Not much else has worked for United so far this season so before Amad likely finally gets his loan move in January, Solskjaer should make the most of him while he's still here and he may just impress enough to stick around.

Solskjaer has a secret weapon to use after the international break and it could be the catalyst for a turnaround in form he so desperately needs.
