ITV Out There viewers all have same complaint about Martin Clunes ...
The new drama Out There, featuring Martin Clunes as Welsh farmer Nathan Williams, has launched on ITV.
The gritty series premiered on Sunday 19 January, immediately capturing the attention of ITV viewers with its raw depiction of the underbelly of county lines drug trafficking. The show delves into the chilling effects of the drug trade on rural communities through Nathan's experiences.
Despite the captivating storyline, Martin Clunes' attempt at a Welsh accent has not been well received by some fans. Following the show's debut, audiences took to social media to express their opinions on the actor's interpretation.
"As a Welsh person, this welsh accent is poor. Martin, you're great but the accent is really off putting. I can't watch it #OutThere," one viewer remarked on X.

Another noted: "I mean, there are a number of distinct Welsh accents but this is none of them. #OutThere," and yet another viewer commented, "Martin Clunes Welsh accent is bad but not bad like Stephen Graham's in White House Farm #OutThere."
One fan tweeted, "#OutThere The thing that most annoys me about the accent is that it's the only thing people are tweeting about," expressing frustration over the accent overshadowing other aspects of the show.
However, there was also support for Martin, with some defending his portrayal: "I'm Welsh. I have no problem with it. There are so many different accents in Wales."
Aside from the accent controversy, viewers were stunned by an intense and gruesome opening scene in the first episode of Out There, reports Wales Online.
After a disconcerting call, Nathan sets off to locate a certain Gwen (Sharon Morgan). Their encounter happens just as Gwen is fervently yelling and gesturing towards a tightly sealed barn. Inside, Nathan finds an old man who has barricaded himself with a shotgun.
Nathan makes an effort to communicate with the man through a small opening in the door, only for a shotgun blast to resound, succeeded by visuals of the barn splattered with blood.
Viewers were quick to take to X, the platform that's taken over from Twitter, to air their reactions to the scene. "I know they advertised this as 'gritty' but this is depressing," posted one user, while another wrote: "Think this might be too stressful #outthere."
Out There episode two airs on ITV1 on January 20 at 9pm, with the full box set also available to watch now on ITVX
