Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett scuffle in hotel before UFC Fight Night
Two UFC fighters gave an unexpected preview of an upcoming rumble when they crossed paths Tuesday at a London hotel.
Ilia Topuria (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Paddy Pimblett (17-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) got into a scrap and hurled insults ahead of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 204 before taking their feud to social media.
Topuria’s entourage stepped in to separate the scuffle after both fighters managed to make slight contact with one another. Cups and other objects were seen flying during the melee as bystanders stood and watched.
“You think I’m scared of you?” Plimbett appeared to say as security intervened.
Topuria replied, “You b–ch.”
Topuria also shared the video to his YouTube channel, with the title, “ATTACKING Paddy Pimblett in London.”
The description read, “This is what happens when someone disrespects me and my country.”
Topuria then took to Instagram to promote the video, writing on his story that “the truth will come out soon! Everyone will see you’re a b–ch.”
Topuria said in a separate Instagram post that he had sent a “warning” to Pimblett, according to MMA Junkie.
“This is what happens when you disrespect me and my country! You saw me and wanted to greet me because you s–t your pants… and you should thank my team because of it wasn’t for them separating me, I would have taken your head off. @theufcbaddy,” he wrote, per MMA Junkie.
Pimblett responded to Topuria on Twitter soon after, claiming Topuria tried to jump him at the hotel while he was alone.
“Imagine trying to jump someone on their own with 5 of your boys & you don’t land a single shot & get a bottle of hand sanitizer bounced off your head you little (clown) don’t try to act big like you did something when you (s–t) your pants pretending ur boys was holding u back p—y,” he tweeted.
Pimblett continued to troll his Topuria on Twitter and engaged with fans and fellow fighters about the fight.
Pimblett also told Barstool Sports Tuesday in the wake of the scuffle, “If he [Topuria] wanted to do something he would’ve come around the table and tried to do something but he knew full well he doesn’t have the balls to do anything… Obviously, he pretended like he was getting pulled away [by his team].”
The two have been fighting on social media for months, with Pimblett previously discussing where his beef with Topuria stems from.
“This is just some dude that I had a back and forth with him a while back and said something to him that really offended him, and I didn’t understand [at the time] what offended him that much. The next day I deleted the tweet, because he probably would’ve took offense to it. I didn’t mean that… and he continued it,” he said.
The real scrap will go down Saturday night at UFC Fight Night in London — but it won’t be between Topuria and Pimblett.
Pimblett is set to compete against Mexico’s Rodrigo Vargas in the co-main event of the card, while Topuria is scheduled to compete in his first fight at 155 pounds against Jai Herbert.
