PAK vs NZ: Mohammad Amir returns for Pakistan with impressive ...

Mohammad Amir made an impressive comeback in international cricket when Pakistan locked horns with New Zealand in the second T20I on Saturday, April 20 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The speedster did not get a chance to bowl in the first game at the same venue after rain played spoilsport, but looked at his very best in the second match of the 5-match series.
PAK vs NZ 2nd T20I Highlights
Amir finished with figures of 3-0-13-2. He bowled 11 dot balls and did not look rusty on return. He got the wicket of opening batter Tim Robinson, who hit the ball straight to Iftikhar Ahmed at short extra cover. Thereafter, the veteran speedster accounted for the wicket of Dean Foxcroft, who scored 13 off 14. In his third over, Amir gave away only 5 runs as Pakistan bowled out the Black Caps for 90 in 18.1 overs.
He played international cricket after nearly 4 years and is also in contention to be a part of the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played later this year in the USA and West Indies. Amir came into the series after playing for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.
Amir helps Pakistan to 1-0 lead
Earlier this year, Amir reversed his retirement decision and made himself available for the World Cup. Wahab Riaz earlier said that Amir was picked for the series against the Kiwis as Haris Rauf is still recovering from the shoulder injury that he sustained in the PSL 2024.
Pakistan, in the meantime, took a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the second T20I by 7 wickets. They chased down the target with 7.1 overs left in their innings. Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 45 took them past the finish line. Saim Ayub, Babar Azam and Usman Khan failed to perform.
