Paraguay 1-4 Brazil: Vini Jr double leads rout

Vinicius Junior scored two of Brazil’s three first-half goals in a 4-1 rout of Paraguay at the 2024 Copa America on Friday.

The win gives the Selecao four points from two matches heading into the group stage finale with 2-0 Colombia.

The game near Las Vegas saw Lucas Paqueta grab a goal and an assist after missing a first-half penalty, while Savio also scored for BRazil.

Paraguay, led by Julio Enciso and Ramo Sosa, hung tough with Colombia before falling 2-1 in the opener but never looked up to it versus Brazil.

Omar Alderete got the Paraguayans within two just after halftime, but Andre Cubas was sent off in the 81st minute of a game that saw Paraguay fire off a lot of shot attempts but fail to threaten more than once or twice.

Paraguay will not reach the knockout rounds, while Brazil will advance unless they are blown out by Colombia and Costa Rica clobbers Paraguay.
