Like any self-respecting father of four, I spent most of the weekend on the sofa, nursing a hangover, while fending off the demands of my children. It’s taken me 19 years to learn how to do this successfully, and I’d like to think it’s a great skill.
One Boris Johnson seemingly has failed to master, judging by yesterday’s shambolic performance at the CBI, the business lobbying group. The prime minister was attempting to give a speech, but at times appeared to be having a minor breakdown.
I don’t want to speculate whether his incoherence was brought on by a weekend of heavy drinking or lack of sleep thanks to his 18-month-old son, but we do know that he spent Sunday, a particularly frosty day
