Tom Kim Gets Roasted For Nearly Missing Tee Time At Genesis Invit

Tom Kim had one job this morning at the Genesis Invitational: arrive promptly for his tee time.

He almost failed miserably at that task, and got roasted by a former PGA Champion as a result.

Kim was scheduled to begin his final round of play with Ricky Fowler at 11 a.m. at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA. Again, the start time was 11 a.m. It was well after any normal professional athlete would wake up on match day, and at a time that’s easy to remember and keep track of.

But somehow, Kim nearly failed to remember his start time. As such, he had to hustle over to the first to prevent getting a late start.

I can only imagine the level of shame and embarrassment that Kim felt as he briskly walked by. But it’s entirely his fault, so it's hard to have a strong level of sympathy for him.

Former PGA Tour champion Smylie Kaufman also wasn’t quick to offer him any sympathy. Instead, he made perhaps the best joke of anybody who reacted to this clip.

"This is the run of someone that could have easily ordered the cold turkey and cheese before the round but opted in for the hot and grilled version. It’s a tough decision but undoubtedly the correct one," Kaufman wrote on X.

That, ladies and gentleman, is wit at its finest. 

Kim didn’t let it ruin his day too badly. After entering the final round in 34th place out of 51 players, he jumped 10 spots to finish tied for 24th in the field with a total score of five-under par (Fowler finished in 35th).

Despite not having to pay for a late start too much, Kim will likely do all he can to prevent this situation from happening again.
