Report: Mbappe situation may force Pochettino exit, Tottenham now confident of deal
According to The Sun, Kylian Mbappe is at the centre of an internal row at Paris Saint-Germain that could lead to Mauricio Pochettino leaving for Tottenham.
Fans were left stunned on Thursday as The Athletic reported that Spurs have opened talks to bring Pochettino back to North London.
Having parted ways with Jose Mourinho in April, Spurs have been seeking a new boss to come in and take over for next season and beyond.
Few really expected the choice to be Pochettino, given that Daniel Levy sacked him at Spurs back in November 2019 after five-and-a-half years at the club, and he has now moved on to become Paris Saint-Germain boss.
This new report now claims that Levy is confident he can pull off a deal and that Pochettino is willing to make a return after holding talks this week.
Pochettino allegedly feels that he has unfinished business at Tottenham, and part of his desire to move on is down to disagreements with Leonardo.
It’s stated that Pochettino doesn’t have a great relationship with PSG’s sporting director, and is particularly unhappy that Leonardo is willing to sell star man Kylian Mbape to Real Madrid.
Pochettino doesn’t even like who Leonardo has suggested to replace Mbappe, and may now look to leave for the familiar surroundings of North London.
This move still seems almost too wild to believe, but if Pochettino isn’t on good terms with Leonardo, then maybe, just maybe a deal can be done.
