CONFIRMED: Porsche 911 Hybrid Coming This Summer
Since this is a system derived from motorsport, we know that it will not be a plug-in hybrid. That means no charging port and, more importantly, that the new variant will prioritize performance above an all-electric driving range.
Blume already confirmed as much back in 2022, calling attention to the 919 Hybrid program. At the same time, the CEO also said that the hybridized 911 would secure the top spot in the range. This all but confirmed that the 911 GT2 RS is to be electrified, and it won't be the only one. As noted above, "selected derivatives of the 911 model line" will be hybridized, suggesting that more than one 911 will get electric assistance.
Along with continued work in the field of synthetic fuel development, the medium-term future of the combustion-powered Porsche 911 seems secure. "Electric sports cars are a clear priority, but we'll continue to offer combustion engine cars and hybrid drives throughout the period of transformation," said Blume.
