Pret announces major changes to coffee subscription service
A 'new and simpler' offer will be introduced from September which will see Club Pret subscribers receive 50% off up to five barista-made drinks a day for £10

Pret A Manger has announced major changes to its Club Pret subscription service.

Under the current system, subscribers can order up to five coffees a day for a monthly fee of £30 and receive 20% discount on food.

But from September these benefits will end and be replaced by a ‘new and simpler’ offer in which subscribers will get 50% off up to five barista made drinks a day for a lower monthly fee. The discount on food will also be scrapped under the changes to remove the dual pricing, which Pret said it ‘never really got comfortable with’. The new service will start at £5 a month until 31 March 2025 and then rise to £10 a month.

Club Pret was first introduced four years ago, while pandemic restrictions were still in place, as a way for the business to drive loyalty and sales.

Discussing the changes in a post on the Pret website, UK & Ireland managing director Clare Clough said: “We know this is a change. But with Club Pret subscription, our coffees, teas, coolers, and iced drinks will continue to be the best offer on the high street, and at a much more accessible price than the £360 a year people have to pay for the current scheme.

“Given the majority of our customers are not Club Pret subscribers, our priority now is to focus on better value for everyone,” she added.

As part of the overhaul, Pret has reduced the price of some items. Its signature 100% organic Arabica Filter Coffee is now 99p and the All Butter Croissant will drop to £1.99. This follows price reductions that it made earlier in the year to six of its bestselling sandwiches and baguettes – including the Posh Cheddar & Pickle Baguette and Tuna & Cucumber Sandwich – with some reduced by more than £1.

“By making these changes, we are underlining our commitment to providing better value for all our Pret customers, as well as the Pret quality and service you’ve come to know and expect,” Clough added.
