In the press conference ahead of the championship game with Sparta Rotterdam, Head Coach Peter Bosz does not want to know anything about a tribute just yet. Focus is the key word, especially with a national title in sight.
That is what he and the technical staff have been insisting on for weeks, so too in preparation for Sunday. "I don't want to hear the word 'championship' for now, only the name of Sparta Rotterdam. We all watched the footage this morning, as we always do."
Championship feverWhen asked about the focus of his selection, the Head Coach responded clearly. "I explained to the guys that our current position came from the way we worked this season. You are not able to achieve that if you don't have that focus. I believe the boys are capable of focusing on it on Sunday."
Praise for opponentCoach Jeroen Rijsdijk's team is receiving compliments from the PSV coach, who sees that his players will not face an easy afternoon next weekend. "Sparta Rotterdam has a very recognizable style of play. They have maintained that for years and they simply have a good team. A mix of experience, a footballing goalkeeper, tall striker and he is supported by two quick and agile Japanese."
Record huntBeyond the successes the team can achieve this season, captain Luuk de Jong is engaged in a battle for the top scorer title. "It's not a specific goal, but it would be very nice and well-deserved if Luuk crowns himself top scorer," he said.
