Reliance eyes bringing UK fast-fashion label Primark to India | Retail News India
Reliance Industries is reportedly in preliminary talks to bring Irish fast-fashion retailer Primark into India.
Primark operates more than 400 stores across the UK, Europe and the US. The brand, known for its affordable clothing and footwear, has eyed the Indian market for years.
Reports state that if a deal is achieved, Primark will probably access the market via a joint venture or licencing arrangement. Utilising Reliance’s retail presence and operational synergies, the brand will have direct access to the Indian consumer base.
Reports, citing two people knowledgeable of the plan, stated that the bulk of stores are anticipated to be situated on high streets, which is consistent with the brand’s big-box style.
Presently, Reliance stands as one of the biggest retailers in India, boasting a substantial array of global brand collaborations. Through a partnership with Primark, the business will be able to take on competitors like Shoppers Stop’s InTune, Landmark Group’s Max, and Tata’s Zudio.
