Rob Delaney Is a Nice Guy With an Even Nicer Taste in Suits

I can’t speak for a whole nation, but I’m pretty sure most Brits have a soft spot for Rob Delaney.
The American comedian, co-star and co-writer of the acclaimed series Catastrophe, has lived in London for almost a decade, which has been something of a coup. He is, it goes without saying, very funny. He seems like very good company. And how could anyone not be touched by his beautiful and devastatingly poignant thoughts on the nature of grief, a conversation that began when he wrote and self-published an essay about the death of his two-year-old son, Henry, in 2018. (If you haven’t read it, or his subsequent book A Heart That Works, don’t expect to finish with dry eyes.)
So, we're agreed: Rob Delaney is great.
Still, you perhaps wouldn’t pin him as a style icon. That was until yesterday, as the 47-year-old's look on the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere red carpet is worth taking note of.

Last night, the Boston-native stepped out in a banging piece of tailoring from New & Lingwood. The double-breasted jacket, worn buttoned-up, nipped him in at the waist but draped over his torso perfectly. His matching trousers were the right amount of slim without venturing into skinny. The chocolate hue and linen composition works in the context of a grey and rainy London summer, and a the chest-hair exposure via a few shirt buttons left undone added to the suit’s laidback feel. Even the black boots worked. Top marks Delaney, top marks.
And in our minds, this outfit was the best on show. He was dressed for the occasion without having tried too hard – an instant way of losing cool kudos. Maybe he’d perused his wardrobe a couple of hours before and decided on the look because it’s a failsafe. Maybe it was a curated decision with a team of stylists. The point is, it looks effortless, and that’s what everyone wants to achieve.
So, will we be adding the actor/comedian to a few more best-dressed galleries in the future? Depends on what he’s wearing, of course. But if this look is anything to go by, then it’s likely.
