Robert Lewandowski: Wales play simple football – we'll be ready

With a place at Euro 2024 at stake Wales’s meeting with Poland does not require any additional spice but the two teams have been happy to stir the pot anyway.

After the Poland striker Robert Lewandowski cautioned about countering the “simple long ball”, Rob Page, the Wales manager, made a dig about the visiting side’s underwhelming qualifying campaign — they finished third, behind Albania and the Czech Republic in group E.

The Poland forward’s hero status has been on the wane and his future for club (Barcelona) and country is in doubt. He remains, however, one of Europe’s most dangerous goalscorers and will be the biggest threat to Wales in their pursuit of a fourth major tournament in the past five.
