Saudi Arabia Being Discussed For The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns
The Rock and Roman Reigns are seemingly on a collision course in WWE, but a long-awaited clash between the two could take place in Saudi Arabia.
Reigns vs. Rock had been heavily rumoured for WWE WrestleMania XL, with Rock’s return in January 2024 seeing ‘The Great One’ tease that he could come for ‘The Head of the Table’. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggests that a clash between the two in Saudi Arabia has been discussed within WWE, with the hopes that such a genuine marquee match could see the Saudi government pay out more money to both WWE and to The Rock in order to strengthen their lucrative working agreement.
If not Saudi Arabia, then Meltzer suggests it could take place at WrestleMania XLI in 2025. However the possibility of Rock vs. Reigns at this year’s WrestleMania XL still remains strong, particularly after CM Punk suffered a triceps injury at the Royal Rumble, therefore taking a World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins off the table.
Meltzer speculates that should WWE change course and book Rollins vs. Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes instead, then Rollins vs. Rhodes could feasibly headline night one of Mania, whilst Reigns vs. Rock would take night two. Whilst no decision on the matter has seemingly been made known by WWE, plans could be revealed as soon as the February 2 episode of WWE SmackDown.
