Rylan Clark has reassured fans he is ‘very good’ after having a ‘little bit of a dodgy time’ of late, which saw him end up in hospital.

The presenter, 33, has been open about his mental health, revealing that he’d been having a difficult time since splitting with his husband Dan Neal, including being admitted to hospital.

He returned to The One Show on Thursday to host alongside Alex Jones, who asked him: ‘Now how are you love, because people have been worried?’

Rylan told her: ‘I’m good, it’s so nice to be back! Oh, you know me – I just love a little drama, don’t I?

‘No, I’m very good. I’m very good now, thank you – I had a little bit of a dodgy time but I’m good.’

Alex added: ‘You’re looking well,’ to which Rylan confirmed: ‘I am – it’s a lot of make up!’, as the pair giggled together.

He had previously opened up about a recent mental health crisis which landed him in hospital, telling Ella Henderson on his Ry-union podcast: ‘Mental health is so prevalent, it’s one of those that things people are talking more and more openly about which, I never in my life thought that I would go through a crisis like that.

‘But I did, ultimately, and it literally hit me round the face like a baseball bat, because I always thought I was too strong for it.

‘Like, I’m never going to let anything like that happen to me, but then it does and it’s really, really hard to deal with.’

Rylan had taken a four-month break from the spotlight to deal with the heartbreak of splitting with his husband but revealed things got ‘very bad’.

He was admitted to hospital after becoming ‘quite ill’ and fearing he wouldn’t be able to continue living after his marriage broke down last year.

Admitting how bad the situation got, Rylan told The Guardian’s Observer magazine recently: ‘I’m the last person that my friends would ever believe could feel as low as I did.

‘Superficially, on paper, I can look after myself, but actually in that moment and for months after, none of the money or the fame mattered. I did not know myself at certain points.

‘I was having thoughts and doing things that made me… f*** up, for want of a better word. I didn’t understand why I was doing that to myself. So, I went away for a bit.’

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
