UFC 270 LIVE: Ngannou vs Gane fight, latest updates and results tonight
The first major UFC event of the year has arrived, with two massive title fights topping the card at UFC 270.
In the co-main event in Anaheim, Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo will complete a trilogy of flyweight title fights. The rivals drew in their initial meeting in December 2020, allowing Figueiredo to hang onto the belt, before Mexican Moreno submitted the Brazilian last June to take the gold.

Gane tries a heel hook but gives up his position in doing so!
But he tries again...
No luck! Ngannou is on top again and happy to hold the position.

Indy Sport has Ngannou 3-1 up, but the first round was the closest.
Gane swings big but misses with a hook.
The interim champion then stuns Ngannou slightly with a one-two, however.
Gane grabs a single-leg and gets Ngannou down to the mat!

Gane gets back to his feet but is taken down again straight away!
Ngannou puts all his weight on Gane and holds him down.
Ngannou has Gane up against the fence now and fires off a few punches as a great round for the champion comes to an end.

Into the championship rounds.
Gane kicks low, chipping away at the champion. He lands a spinning back kick to the body, too.
Ngannou thrashes at Gane with a left hook but fails to land. Fierce front kick by Gane lands around the neck of Ngannou.
Another kick attempt by Gane is caught and Ngannou holds the interim champion, driving him to the fence then taking him down!
Round 3
The former teammates grapple against the fence and Gane lands a spinning elbow as they separate! A trademark of his, almost.
Ngannou looks tired. He's breathing heavily, plodding, and his hands are low.
The men end up against the fence again, and Ngannou secures a great double-leg takedown after a hook to the body!
Gane looks for a Kimura straight away, but he can’t get the positioning right.
Big round for Ngannou.

Ngannou is in side control, not a position we've seen him in very often before...
Ngannou tries to get into mount but ends up taking the back and throwing some punches.
He fails to get hooks in but is still in control... but Gane stands! Impressive.

More leg kicks from Gane early in this round.
Ngannou presses forward, but Gane smartly circles into the centre of the Octagon.
Gane misses with a front kick and is SLAMMED to the mat by Ngannou!
The crowd reacts more positively to that! That was more power slam than takedown!

Spinning back kick to the body by Gane.
Ngannou presses forward and throws a heavy body kick with Gane’s back to the fence.
Gane comes forward but doesn’t throw anything. More boos.
Indy Sport has that round for Gane, with Ngannou having taken the first frame.

A right straight almost connects for Ngannou, but Gane turns just enough to take the punch on his neck.

The crowd is a bit restless at the moment.

Ngannou returns fire before Gane throws a combination up top and exits.
Right now, the fight is happening at Gane's preferred tempo. Ngannou isn't committing to too much.

Ngannou reclaims the centre of the ring as the pair separate. Again Gane kicks low, then ducks as Ngannou swings at him.

The Frenchman remarkably only turned pro in MMA in 2018.

Moreno says he’s up for a fourth fight, in Mexico.
The trilogy stands at 1-1-1, with their initial draw followed by traded wins.
Moreno: “I feel like I threw better combinations with more speed, maybe he had more power. Obviously I feel that I won, but it is what it is.”
Figuiredo calls for a fourth fight with Moreno and even says they can do it in Mexico.

A dramatic end to the fight! Both men land multiple clean punches in close in the final seconds!
Indy Sport has Figueiredo winning this 49-46, though it seems 48-47 in his favour is a popular scorecard among fans and pundits online, too.
Every single round was so close. This really could go any way.

Figueiredo creates space and rises, though!
The Brazilian drops Moreno again with a right hand, but the champion bounces back up!

Figueiredo has a body lock from behind and deals knees to Moreno’s quads against the fence.
Moreno once again separates well.
It’s another close round – less busy than the others, but still hard to call.

You’d think Moreno was the one with a power advantage given how his strikes have been affecting Figueiredo, though the latter obviously secured a knockdown late in the third round.
The Brazilian’s outside leg kicks are doing more and more damage.

Figueiredo’s outside leg kicks are starting to impact Moreno’s movement, but the champion clips the Brazilian with another lovely left hand.
Heavy left hands from both men, and a right from Figueiredo drops Moreno at the very end of the round!!

Moreno rushes in for a knee but is caught by Figueiredo, who pushes the champion to the mat and against the fence.
Moreno does so well to escape quickly, not for the first time tonight.
Both men appear to be hurting each other! Moreno is stunned by a punch and rolls away, but he clips Figueiredo soon after.
Again they trade stinging punches!

Nice body combinations from both men!
BIG right hand from Figueiredo, but Moreno fires back with a left hand that appears to slightly wobble the challenger!
Moreno defends another single-leg takedown.
Another close round, but this one is perhaps Moreno’s.

More cagey punching and kicking exchanges, before a scramble sees Moreno dart after Figueiredo on the mat!
The former champion is quick to get back to his feet, however.
Figueiredo catches Moreno’s leg and tries for a single-leg takedown, but to no avail.

Figueiredo gets in close and secures a takedown.
He tries to take the back but Moreno escapes slickly!
Both men trade kicks, Figueiredo favouring the body but also landing a heavy outside low kick.
Moreno lands an inside leg kick that troubles Figueiredo. The Brazilian responds with two front kicks to the body.
Moreno ends a very close round with a nice combination of body punches.

It’s cagey here. Moreno separates and misses with a wide hook.
Figueiredo with a leg kick that momentarily floors the champion.
The pair trade jabs before Moreno appears to stun Figueiredo slightly with a right hand.

A touch of gloves and we’re under way.
Figueiredo misses with a leg kick. He misses again and is clipped with a jab.
The Brazilian falls and Moreno rushes after him. A clash of heads there seems not to have opened up any cuts.
Moreno has Figueiredo up against the fence, but the position is soon reversed.
An unreal reaction for Moreno as he enters the Octagon. The Anaheim crowd is firmly behind the Mexican.

Figueiredo has struggled with weight cuts in the past but weighed in at 124lbs this week, the first signs that his rehoned approach for this fight is working in his favour.
Moreno, who also weighed one pound below the 125lbs limit, is out now...
In Figuereido’s corner is fellow former flyweight champion Henry Cejudo, an old mentor of Moreno.
An intriguing thread to the narrative around tonight’s co-main event.
Figueiredo, an often cold-seeming character, emerges first to a chorus of boos in the Honda Center.
Here we go then. The co-main event, the first of two title fights tonight.

An entertaining fight as expected, and very close. Indy Sport has it 29-28 to Pereira.

Fialho presses forward, but there’s more good work from Pereira, who kicks to the legs and body of his Portuguese opponent.
Fialho has Pereira up against the fence, but they don’t stay there for long.
More pressure from Fialho, but Pereira offering great variety in his offence here.
It feels like any exchange could decide this fight.
There’s a pause in the action late on due to an accidental groin strike by Pereira.

Pereira with knees in close, then he kicks high and low. Another superman punch off the fence.
He secures a PERFECTLY-timed double-leg takedown after a feint up top, just to punctuate a terrific round late on.
We’re looking at 19-19 in all likelihood as the third round approaches.
Nasty cut about Fialho’s left eye.
Round 2
Pereira – bleeding from the nose – is told by his corner that he gave up the first round to Fialho.
Great start to the second round for Pereira, though! He lands two clean right straights then a beautiful combination including a body shot and uppercut.
He flies at Fialho with two jumping knees and keeps up the pressure. Fialho’s expression has changed here...
He seems to have been hurt by some of those body attacks and is accepting being pushed backwards.

More front kicks from Pereira, but Fialho lands two heavy hooks against the fence!
Fialho with consistent, effective pressure. Pereira slips and his opponent follows him to the mat to land a couple of hammer fists.
Fialho slides into half-guard and ends the first round on top – and likely ahead on the judges’ scorecards.
Round 1
Pressure from Fialho straight away. He misses with a wheel kick and is jabbed with a couple of front kicks to the body.
Pereira shows some of his trademark eccentricity with a superman punch off the cage. Fialho responds with two sniper-like jabs.
Here we go, this should be fun!
Pereira (26-11, 2 no contests) enters this fight with three wins in his last three outings, while Fialho (14-3, 1 NC) has won his last four contests.
