Italy: Mahmood & Blanco win Sanremo 2022 with “Brividi”
The 72nd edition of the Sanremo Music Festival has come to an end with a new winner. Mahmood and Blanco have won the crown and the traditional leoncino — the little golden lion awarded to the sanremese winner.
But will Mahmood & Blanco represent Italy at the Eurovision on home turf in Turin? The confirmation should arrive in the coming hours, during the traditional press conference that usually follows the final of the kermesse.
In case they refuse, RAI will internally choose another of the 25 singers in the competition, regardless of their grand final ranking.
Sanremo 2022 final resultsThe overall combined results throughout the week consisted of televoting, the press jury, and the demoscopic poll. All 25 finalists started off with the scores achieved in the four previous evenings behind them when they performed their entries on the night judged by televoting.
After the first round of voting, Elisa, Gianni Morandi, and Mahmood & Blanco advanced to the second and last round. Here all the scores were reset to zero and the demoscopic jury (33%), the press room (33%) and the televote (34%) came back into play. In the end, it was Mahmood & Blanco who emerged triumphant!
