The Tokyo Paralympics were Storey’s eighth games since her debut at Barcelona 1992.
She was initially a swimmer, but transitioned across to cycling at Beijing 2008.
Storey is undefeated at the Paralympics since becoming a cyclist – 12 events across four games and 12 gold medals.
She also picked up 16 medals in her cycling career, and in Tokyo became the most successful British Paralympian of all.

Storey was born in October 1977, in the northern English town of Eccles, near Salford in Greater Manchester.
She competes in the C4-5 events at the Paralympics.
This is for athletes who have impairments to their legs and arms, but are still able to use a standard bicycle in competition.

Storey’s disability comes from complications before she was born.
Her left arm became entangled within the umbilical cord in her mother’s womb, meaning the limb did not form as would normally be expected.

Storey’s husband Barney was a pilot in track cycling.
This means he rides with blind cyclists, guiding them around the track during races.
He won three Golds in Beijing and London and received an MBE in 2009.
The couple have two children – daughter Louisa in 2013 and son Charlie in 2017.
In 1998, Storey was awarded an MBE, and was subsequently promoted to OBE in 2009.
In 2013, Storey was elevated to the rank of Dame Commander, gaining the title in the New Years honours list that year.
