Samantha Morton, Tom Felton, Jonathan Pryce, Adeel Akhtar, and Erin Richards are among the huge stars taking on roles in Carmarthen-based film Save the Cinema

Save the Cinema is the brand new filmed inspired by the extraordinary real-life events sparked by tenacious hairdresser Liz Evans.

Filmed in Carmarthen and set in the 90s, the Sky Original production tells the tale of how a community in west Wales rallied together to save an independent and historic theatre from ruin and bring Tinseltown to their doorstep.

It follows the story of local woman Liz, mother of GoCompare advert regular Wynne Evans, who starts a campaign to save Lyric Theatre in King Street from destruction along with the help of the community and then-town mayor Richard Goodridge,

Based on true events she also pushed to get Jurassic Park – one of the biggest films of all time – shown in Carmarthen's historic cinema. You can read the full details behind that incredible story here.

Liz is played by Samanthan Morton (Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them) while Harry Potter star Tom Felton takes on the role of Richard Goodridge. Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes) and Adeel Akhtar (Enola Holmes) also make up the star-studded line-up.

The film, which is directed by Sara Sugarman, is available on Sky Cinema, Now TV, and in cinemas on Friday, January 14.
