CELTIC have NOT appealed Odsonne Edouard's yellow card for simulation against Rangers on Sunday.

The Hoops star hit the deck during the first half during the Old Firm derby after coming under pressure from a Borna Barisic lunge in the box.

But man in the middle Willie Collum wasn't having it and brandished a yellow card to the classy forward.

Celtic interim boss John Kennedy was incensed after the French striker was booked for diving at Parkhead, insisting it was a stonewall penalty.

However, the club have opted against appealing the 23-year-old's yellow for simulation.

The deadline for appealing this weekend's controversial incidents has passed, meaning the Hoops forward will still have the cautioning next to his name.

Former EPL referee Dermot Gallagher insisted Collum was RIGHT not to award a penalty on Sunday.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “It’s not a penalty and when you see the angle he has to yellow card him.

“If the referee isn’t giving a penalty he has to book the player for diving.

“It’s difficult to tell but the referee has the best view, he’s looking at the player.

“That’s the referee’s view and the angle shows the knees buckling, if you like, which wouldn’t say it was a trip.

“I think, in defence of Edouard, he sees the contact coming and he anticipates it - but the defender pulls out.”

Celtic skipper Scott Brown was adamant it was a STONEWALL penalty and insisted contact was made after watching the footage at half-time.

He said: "I think the first-half we were exceptional.

"We could have scored three or four and had a penalty denied as well.

"It was a stonewaller.

"There is no need for Odsonne [Edouard] to go down. He chopped inside and there is contact, we seen it at half-time.

"It is one of those if you go in at half-time two up it's a totally different game.

"But they managed to get back into the game but we've had enough chances to win it. I thought we were very good throughout the whole 90 minutes."

HOOPS GRILLING Dermot Desmond breaks Celtic silence as he’s grilled on manager hunt, ‘wrong calls’ and whether he’ll sell shares

Meanwhile, former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is being monitored after dramatically COLLAPSING in training with Atletico Madrid.

The ex-Hoops favourite - who is on-loan at the Spanish giants from Lyon - was shown fainting as he underwent stretching exercises.

But he regained consciousness whilst on the pitch and was able to walk off under his own steam.

The striker's condition will be closely monitored - with him scheduled to undergo tests today.

Diego Simeone's side top the La Liga table - they are four points ahead of Barcelona and six ahead of Real Madrid.

But Frenchman Dembele has yet to start a single match since joining on loan from French football in January - and has yet to get on the scoresheet.

Celtic will be keen that he finds form soon - as they are due a 10% sell-on in the £32.5m fee thought to have been agreed by the clubs should the Spanish outfit take him permanently.
