How Scott Brown responded to Celtic exit warning as skippers Aberdeen dual role mindset revealed
The former Hibs teammates have talked about the move to Pittodrie but pal McManus expressed fears over the move into the dugout.

Pundit Tam McManus admits he has warned former Hibs teammate Scott Brown about taking up the role as Aberdeen assistant manager.

The Dons announced Stephen Glass as their new manager this week and Record Sport revealed that Brown is expected to follow as player-assistant.

Glass and Brown worked together as players at Hibs and Aberdeen expected to announce the arrival of the Celtic icon this week.

McManus, who also played with the Parkhead skipper at Easter Road, admits he has concerns about the reunion which were seemingly dismissed by the 35-year-old.

He told the PLZ Football Show that he has already spoken to Brown to express fears over taking on the role as assistant boss while still playing.

McManus reckons it may be tough for the 35-year-old to strike the balance between playing and management duties with the Dons.

He said: "I think Scott Brown would be an excellent signing for Aberdeen.

"I can just picture him in the middle of the park with McCrorie and Ferguson. I think that would be a terrific midfield three.

"Not only on the pitch but off the pitch his winning mentality, the way he performs, the way he acts around the place.

"I think he would be a great ambassador for Aberdeen, it’s just a great fit for me, but whether Scott can do number two and playing, I don’t think he can. I’ve already spoke to him about this.

"He seems to believe that he can be the number two and play but I think that would be very difficult, so I'm wondering if Stephen would keep Paul Sheerin there.

"I don’t know if they know each other, but he could be the number two and maybe have Broony as a first-team coach, dipping in and out, doing session here and there.

"For him to be a number two and play every week I think is very, very difficult. I think it leaves Stephen Glass a bit exposed on the touchline as well."
