Report suggests Allan Russell could join Scott Brown in shock Aberdeen move

Aberdeen appointed Stephen Glass as their new manager on Tuesday – and they aren’t done making moves just yet.

Glass has been picked as the man to replace Derek McInnes in the Pittodrie hot seat, going in a whole new direction as the Atlanta United coach makes his return to Scottish football.

The Dons will now attempt to build a staff around Glass, and that involves a deal for Celtic captain Scott Brown, who will be leaving the Bhoys this summer as things stand.

The 35-year-old will allegedly become assistant to Glass, starting his coaching career whilst still playing next season, providing help on and off the pitch.

If some thought that was a strange move, then Aberdeen’s next target may give an indication into the ambition being shown by Dave Cormack and co.

The Scottish Sun claim that Aberdeen want to land England coach Allan Russell, pairing him up with Brown in terms of assisting Glass next season and beyond.

The former Hibernian, Hamilton, St Mirren, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock man currently serves as England’s attacking coach, and has built up a strong reputation as an exciting young coach, even being credited with England’s set-piece success at the 2018 World Cup.

That kind of capture would be huge for Aberdeen, and a major indication as to why Brown fancies a move so much, with the Dons really pushing to challenge next term under a new coaching setup.
