Stephen Glass appointed Aberdeen manager as Scott Brown set to take up Pittodrie assistant role
The former Dons player has been appointed to replace Derek McInnes with the Celtic skipper to join him next season.

Aberdeen have officially confirmed the appointment of Stephen Glass as their new manager, with Scott Brown to come in as player-assistant manager.

As exclusively revealed by Record Sport the Celtic captain has turned down the option of a new one-year contract at Parkhead to join the Pittodrie revolution.

Glass was officially interviewed for the position last week, with his assistant holding talks with chairman Dave Cormack.

And Aberdeen have now confirmed that Glass is the man to replace Derek McInnes in the dugout, with Brown lined up to join when his contract at Celtic expires.

A statement announced: "Aberdeen FC today confirms Stephen Glass as its new manager.

"The 44-year-old Scotland International returns to the club he played for between 1994-1998, having managed 60 professional games with Atlanta United as head coach of Atlanta United 2 who play in the USL full-time professional league below MLS, and as interim head coach of Atlanta United’s MLS team following the departure of Frank de Boer."

Glass is a former Aberdeen player, coming through the Dons youth system before going on to play over 100 games for the club.

He said: "It is a real honour to be named Aberdeen FC manager. Since my retirement from playing, I have been focused on becoming the best coach I can be with the aim of being in a position to secure an opportunity such as this.
