Perez penalised by stewards: Mexican loses P3 on the grid
Sergio Perez did not get to enjoy his third place in qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix for long. After the session ended, the Mexican was penalised by the stewards for getting in Nico Hulkenberg's way in Q1. As a result, Perez loses his spot on the second row of the grid and has to move back three places. Perez will thus start the Grand Prix from sixth position.
Because of the penalty, some drivers move up a place. Lando Norris gets third place, while Charles Leclerc saw his still disappointing fifth place turn into P4.
Perez got in Hulkenberg's way
In the first part of qualifying, Hulkenberg did not make it through to Q2. The German was clearly hampered in his fast run by Perez. The stewards reported the incident during the session, but it was investigated after the session. To do so, the Mexican had to explain to the stewards, including Johnny Herbert.
