Mark Warburton's 'dangerous' Sheffield United verdict in battle with Blackburn and Middlesbrough

Mark Warburtons dangerous Sheffield United verdict in battle with Blackburn and Middlesbrough
The QPR boss watched his side outclassed for large parts of last night's 3-1 defeat and spoke with an envious tone about United's squad

Mark Warburton says Sheffield United 'look dangerous' as the race for the Championship play-off places enters the final straight. A 3-1 victory over his faltering QPR side saw United open up a five-point gap on Middlesbrough, who play later today.

Blackburn Rovers and Millwall are also still in the hunt, but they must all pick up maximum points if they are to take it to the final day of the season. All those of a red and white persuasion will be keeping a keen eye on today's results in the hope that it can be done and dusted before the final day match at home to Fulham.

However, Warburton says Sheffield United are a team to fear. Although Paul Heckingbottom will feel he can give him a run for his money when it comes to complaining about injuries, Warburton could be forgiven for speaking with an envious tone when looking at the teamsheet.

Despite turning up with no strikers in the starting XI, Warburton was still impressed with United's squad strength and believes that could be a big advantage. However, he expects Middlesbrough and Blackburn to push them all the way.

"They have a very strong squad, really strong," he explained. "Credit to Paul, to Stuart and Jack and the guys for the job that they have done. There's no doubt about the quality of that squad.

"Look at them bringing on Conor Hourihane in the last minute. A very strong squad and there is a lot of experience in there if you look around and see the likes of Chris Basham. Don't forget there was no George Baldock, no Billy Sharp, McGoldrick, Brewster, McBurnie. I hope I am not saying this in too envious a voice.

"Far from it, they have a deep squad, they have got Premier League experience. They look dangerous and have a passionate fanbase.

"They will be right up there. Blackburn and Middlesbrough will be pushing very hard and it's exciting, the Championship always is."

Middlesbrough entertain Stoke today, while Rovers play host to Bournemouth and Millwall welcome Peterborough to the Den.
