'Come on!' Shirley Ballas admits partner 'nervous' about marrying as she awaits proposal

Come on Shirley Ballas admits partner nervous about marrying as she awaits proposal
SHIRLEY BALLAS has made no secret that she hopes her boyfriend Danny Taylor will eventually pop the question and marry her.

Shirley Ballas has been dating the actor for two years, having first met during rehearsals for their pantomime show Jack And The Beanstalk in Liverpool.

Things are still going solid for the pair but the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 head judge insists that she wants to settle down with Danny, who has yet to put a ring on her finger.

Speaking to Prima magazine, the 61-year-old, who describes her man as “very kind” and “caring,” gushed: “He’s always there for me. I hope he’ll propose one day, but he’s never married and I think he’s a bit nervous about it, so we’ll see. Come on, Danny!”

Shirley continued to heap praise on her boyfriend, going as far as to credit him for changing her life when the pair began dating.

“He’s very different to anyone I’ve been with before,” she said. “First of all, he’s 6ft 1in, he’s the tallest man I’ve ever dated, and I love his jet black hair.”

The Cheshire native was previously married to Sammy Stopford from 1980 to 1984 before going on to tie the knot with Corky Ballas in 1985.

However, after 22 years of marriage, the pair called it quits in 2007.

They are the proud parents of 35-year-old Mark Ballas, who has been starring in the US version of Strictly, Dating with the Stars, since 2007.

In the same interview, the ballroom star also touched on her past self-esteem struggles, admitting that she was no stranger to “doing things for the wrong reasons”.

Shirley told the publication how she underwent a boob job in a desperate attempt to save her failing marriage to one of her exes.

This isn’t the first time Shirley has openly shared her plans to tie the knot once more.

In September, she revealed to The Sun that the subject of marriage is something she and Danny talk about often, as she partly joked about pressuring the latter to pop the question sooner rather than later.

If she does end up walking down the aisle for the third time, Shirley quipped she will be following in the footsteps of Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor by “collecting” spouses.

“[Elizabeth Taylor] had eight marriages, didn’t she?" she teased. "No, I’ll just stick with Danny, but I do think it has a nice ring to it.”

In December 2020, Danny and Shirley took part in their first official photoshoot and a joint interview with Hello! magazine, where the couple lifted the lid on all things concerning their personal affairs.

Though the doting pair had been relatively private about their romance until then, Danny insisted that nobody had the upper hand as far as their love life was concerned — they share a very equal relationship.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.40 pm on BBC One.

The January issue of Prima is on sale from 2nd December. You can read Shirley's full interview in Prima now.
