Group winners Romania will play either Slovenia or Netherlands in the last 16, but that has also yet to be decided.

Not a great look for the tournament.

Nine of the last ten games have been 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1

And it’s full-time in the other match in this group! It finishes Ukraine 0-0 Belgium!

That means Ukraine are out, despite having four points, and Belgium will face France in the last 16! Eeeeeeeesh.

Slovakia will either face England or Spain. That is still to be decided.

Both sides are through and both sets of players celebrate wildly on the pitch!

90+2 min: Unsurprisingly, both sides are showing little attacking verve. This game is petering out as a draw, which suits both sides.

More Slovakia subs: Norbert Gyomber and Matus Bero replace Ondrej Duda and Peter Pekarik. Duda was booked shortly before that change.

90 min: Three minutes added on here.

Pleased to say that Marek Hamsik, now retired of course, is still part of the Slovakia squad as part of the backroom staff. He’s lost the mohawk, though.

88 min: Yellow card for Puscas for a high boot on Skriniar. The forward is lucky he didn’t make better contact with the midriff of the PSG defender.

86 min: Romania’s goalscorer, Razvan Marin, is withdrawn for Rus, who is a centre back. I think that gives an indication of how enterprising Romania plan to be for the closing stages. That said, they do have a corner … which is booted over everyone in the middle and out for a goal kick.

84 min: The game has … slowed. Remember a draw means that both sides go through.

82 min: Hancko, who conceded the penalty earlier remember, is enjoying a fine finish to this game, dropping the shoulder to win another set-piece for Slovakia after a clumsy challenge from Marius Marin. But it’s a wasteful delivery.

80 min: Hancko perhaps a little unlucky not to get a free kick after nutmegging Ratiu on the byline. The Romania gave the Slovakian left back a little shove but not enough for the referee to blow.

78 min: Slovakia substitution – Duris replaces Ivan Schranz, who would have become only the ninth player ever to have scored in all three group games if he had netted today.

76 min: The first sign of timewasting as Romania keeper Nita takes his sweet time over a goal kick. Remember Romania are top of this group, as things stand. But so much can change in the final 15 minutes of both games. Slovakia also set to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams. But a Ukraine goal changes everything.

Pos Team P GD Pts
1 Romania 3 1 4
2 Belgium 3 1 4
3 Slovakia 3 0 4
4 Ukraine 3 -2 4

Incidentally, it’s still Ukraine 0-0 Belgium. The Belgians will play France in the last 16 if things stay like this.

74 min: Skriniar is the more illustrious centre back in Slovakia’s back line, and the PSG man has done well today, but his partner Vavro has also been outstanding. Plays for FC Copenhagen.

72 min: The rain eases. We should be able to play football properly now. I’ll shut up about the weather now.

70 min: Slovakia respond with two changes of their own. Tomas Suslov and Robert Bozenik replace David Strelec and Lukas Haraslin. The latter made a real impression in this second half.

The ball has now begun to stick on the surface. I can easily imagine a game-changing error coming from the conditions or the pitch.

68 min: Romania make a double change: George Puscas and Dennis Man replace Ianis Hagi and Denis Dragus. Think Hagi is unfortunate to come off. Puscas formerly of Reading, of course.

66 min: The pitch is resembling something of a slip and slide. It was already bobbly, now it’s sodden.

64 min: Two big chances for Slovakia! Strelec finds some space in Romania’s area and hits a low shot through the legs of Dragusin towards the near post. All of Nita’s momentum is going the wrong way but the keeper dangles a foot out and keeps it out.

Back come Slovakia! Next it is Haraslin that poses the threat, cutting in off the left wing and bending his shot juuuuuuuuuust wide of the Romania post. So close again.

62 min: Out of nowhere, a monsoon of rain has begun falling in Frankfurt! The players are getting absolutely soaked and the wind is driving the rain onto the supporters in the stands.

59 min: Back come Romania! Hagi nutmegs his marker on the edge of Slovakia’s box, lays the ball off to Razvan Marin, who hits a howitzer with almost no backlift. Dubravka saves and the rebounds falls to Dragus, who finds half a yard and curls his shot just over the bar! A yard over!

57 min: Romania make the first change: Coman off for Sorescu.

55 min: Lobotka continuing to pull the strings in midfield for Slovakia, who look the most likely to win this match.

53 min: Hagi is penalised for an aerial dual with Hancko, from which the Slovakia defender comes off worse. Iordanescu, the Romania manager, is yellow carded by the referee for his protestations at the decision.

51 min: Haraslin, so quiet in the first half for Slovakia, gets the better of Ratiu on his way to the Romanian byline. Haraslin checks back inside onto his right foot and ignores the options in the middle instead shooting through a crowd of players. Nita is again equal to it. Slovakia certainly the better side in these opening stages.

49 min: A miskick allows Hancko to get free on the left for Slovakia, he hooks a rather limp cross into the middle where Romania make a mess of their clearance. The ball balloons into the area and looks set to bounce just under the crossbar beforfe Nita takes it off the head of Strelec with a well-timed punch away, which the Romanian goalkeeper celebrates like a goal.

Peeeeeeeeep! We’re off again in Frankfurt.

We’re all square, but nobody can say that either side have not been going for it.

“Wow, atmosphere, going for it, great game to watch”, emails Paper Roses.

45 min: Three minutes added on.
