ITV Loose Women star Sophie Morgan chokes back tears over life-changing accident
ITV Loose Women star Sophie Morgan has broken down in tears after recalling a life-changing accident on today's show. The panelist was on the show on Monday afternoon.
The 37 year old sustained a T6 spinal cord injury in a road traffic accident in 2003, resulting in paralysis from the chest down. Choking back tears, Sophie explained: "This is me six months before the accident that paralysed me."
She added: "It's looking back at this image of my little self and thinking right, if I could go back and tell her in six months time, you’re going to go to collect your A level results and after that party you’re going to go back to another party and in that journey, you’re going to lose control of your car.

"You’re going to crash and you’re going to be paralysed from the waist down and you’re never going to walk again." Her mum Carol said: "Sophie was in a real mess, she had an oxygen mask on her face. Tom, my son, and my husband we went in, I said 'what a mess' and she said 'I'm really sorry mum'. There have been some dark times, when I see you struggling, of course, like any mum, you want to change that."
"We [family] all did our own thing because Tom [15 at the time] went back to school because that was the best place for him. He had a really good support system... John went back to work, because that's what men do, and I stayed with Sophie. When you're in the eye of the storm, you don't have time for grief, it's an indulgence.... But I really felt that my job was to step up and be there. If I fall apart, or she sees that I've fallen apart, that's not good."
