Southampton 1-1 Tottenham LIVE! Harry Kane goal - Premier League match stream, latest score and updates today
Exactly 48 hours after claiming important Boxing Day victories, Saints and Spurs are back in action for another festive Premier League match-up.
Antonio Conte has got Tottenham firing and is yet to lose a match since taking over in North London, unless you count the Covid-enforced Europa Conference League forfeit against Rennes.
Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min all scored in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace last time out but, with a game also on New Year’s Day, it will be interesting to see how the harsh calendar affects the two teams.
Southampton claimed a hard-fought 3-2 victory at West Ham two days ago to lift them nine points clear of the relegation zone and can look forward to 2022 optimistically if they can repeat that result in their last game of the calendar year today.
With kick-off at 3pm, join Dan Kilpatrick at St Mary’s and Marc Mayo for live updates from the match...
The big question now is whether Southampton can regain their stronger foothold or if Tottenham can make the most of this somewhat-gifted route back into the match.
Second-half: Coming up!
Spurs were struggling to find their feet until Salisu's foul on Son potentially flipped this game on its head. For second time in 48 hours, Spurs will play more than a half against 10 men.
But they still need to improve to win here. Boos for ref Anthony Taylor from around St. Mary's at the interval.
Here is that Tottenham penalty incident, with VAR calling Son offside is there much to argue about?
That’s the break after a half which was going all Southampton’s way until that red card.
Ward-Prowse’s opener was cancelled out by Kane’s penalty, after Salisu received a second yellow for clearly downing Son in the box.
45+1 mins: Reguilon booked for going in late on Diallo.
45 mins: A bit of Tottenham possession to see out the half, with three minutes added on.
What a huge potential turning point that was. Saints were well in control but Salisu's trip on Son has let Spurs back into the game, and left the hosts a man down.
For the second time in 48 hours, Spurs will play more than half the match against ten men.
43 mins: A break in play immediately from kick-off and Long receives a blow to the head competing for a long ball over the top.
No malice, the officials agree, and the Irishman is okay to continue.
42 mins: The only question there was whether Son was offside as he went through on goal.
VAR was content that he was not and there was no need to review Salisu’s tackle, or second yellow.
40 mins: Kane steps up... and scores in the top corner!
