Lucasfilm Reveals Name of Mysterious Clone Assassin in 'The Bad Batch' and Two New Clips
Following the release of yesterday’s two-episode release of The Bad Batch, speculation has swirled regarding the as-yet unrevealed clone assassin. Today, the official Star Wars account on X dropped the assassin’s name–CX-2. This breadcrumb doesn’t give us much, but it’s certainly worth noting as we move deeper into the Tantiss cloning plotline.
The Bad Batch meet the deadly CX-2 in two unforgettable episodes.

Lucasfilm also released clips from yesterday’s episodes in line with the rest of the episodes so far this season. The first clip from episode 6 “Infiltration” sets up the suspicion surrounding Crosshair as he attempts to refit himself into his family of clone brothers. Beware of potential spoilers below if you haven’t yet watched yesterday’s episodes.
The second clip from episode 7 “Extraction” features the shadow clone assassin, CX-2 following his rogue attempts to capture Omega and the differences in methods that arise between him and the other Imperial clones.
Just who is this mysterious CX-2? So far, many fans have guessed at Tech, a Crosshair clone, Commander Cody, or even perhaps a combination of Tech and Crosshair. Theories abound. My own thoughts lean toward an anticlimactic reveal a la Marrok in Ahsoka. Sometimes, Lucasfilm tee up these mysteries without much intention. That said, I’d love to be wrong! A Crosshair-Tech clone sleeper agent sounds like a lot of fun. I like my Star Wars wacky.
