Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard SACKED claim quashed
Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard 'sacked' by Saudi club, report claims.

A report from Saudi Sport in the Middle East last night claimed the 44-year-old had been dismissed by the Pro League side.

The news came after Ettifaq were defeated by a second-division team last night, resulting in a shocking Saudi King's Cup exit.

Yet, the influential All About SPL account moved to strike this notion from the record, saying:  "Steven Gerrard in the Saudi League is an untouchable person! It is not because he is Al-Ettifaq's manager but because he is working to make the Saudi League project a success, where he is helping all Saudi League clubs to develop their infrastructure."

The Liverpool legend's team slumped to a new low on Wednesday after going down 3-1 at the hands of Al-Jabalain in the last-16 of the competition.

Pressure has been mounting on Gerrard for a while, with Ettifaq now 10th in the Pro League.

They have also gone five games without a win, with the last time they claimed three points in the league coming on September 14.

The English football legend is just 16 months into his £15.2m-a-year contract at Al-Ettifaq.

He guided the club to a sixth place finish in hie debut season in the Middle East, as he was one of a host of big names to join the Saudi football movement last year.

Meanwhile, Kris Boyd was left furious at Rangers' performance from back to front in their 2-1 loss to Aberdeen at Pittodrie tonight (Wednesday).

The loss sees Philippe Clement's side fall nine points off the Dons and Celtic, both of whom sit on 28 points a-piece.

Former Rangers forward and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd did not mince his word in the aftermath of the match.

"Aberdeen are absolutely everything that Rangers aren't," he said on Sky Sports. They've got a work rate, they've got a style of play about them – if that's long, they'll go; if they need to calm it down, they will."
