Tesco under fire from shoppers over crazy Clubcard price differences
One customer blasted the supermarket for offering Clubcard members an item worth £40 for just £16.

Tesco has been slammed by shoppers for their popular loyalty scheme which has left some shoppers paying more for certain items.

The supermarket chain regularly offers lower prices and discounts for those who are signed up to their Clubcard scheme. However, one customer has gone viral for showing how much more shoppers without a Clubcard are paying.

Bristol Live reports that the debate was started on Twitter, after one disgruntled shopper blasted the supermarket for offering Clubcard members an item worth £40 for just £16 - which was over 50% off the original price.

@virtual_ambvxr said: "This is dreadful… if you can sell it at £16 then sell it at £16. The Clubcards are literally free of charge so what is the point?

"You don’t gain anything from Clubcards. £40 is absolutely ridiculous. Seeing these crazy prices more and more in Tesco, it really is shocking!"

A Tesco spokesperson replied: “Through Clubcard Prices, we’re giving more than 20 million customers access to thousands of exclusive deals on everything from everyday staples like fruit and veg to treats like prosecco and ice-cream.

“It’s easy and free to sign up, and customers can register on the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app, website or in store to start saving straight away.”

This is not the first time the supermarket's loyalty scheme has caused controversy among shoppers. In February, The Daily Record reported that non Clubcard members would have to pay £3.50 for their popular meal deal, while members were able to pay less at just £3.
