Easter supermarket opening times for Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda ...

If you're planning a quiet Easter weekend, it might be the perfect time to pop down to the supermarket and fill your trolley with food and drink for the week.

Or if you're celebrating, you might need to dash to your local Tesco, Sainsbury's or Asda to pick up everything you need for a special family meal. Good Friday is on March 29. It is a Christian remembrance of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and people traditionally abstain from eating meat for the duration, instead eating fish.

Meanwhile, Easter Sunday sees many families chow down on a traditional lamb dinner to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. And if course, if you choose celebrate the annual event you'll need to be stocked up on supplies. But if you find yourself out of tartar sauce come Good Friday, or gravy granules come Easter Sunday, you might have to make a last-minute trip to the supermarket, reports Chronicle Live.

But remember, some supermarkets like Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi will change their opening times over the bank holiday weekend. So to help you out, we've looked up when each store will be closed between March 29 and April 1.

Aldi

Here are Aldi's opening times over the Easter bank holiday weekend:

• Good Friday - 8am to 10pm
• Easter Saturday - 8am to 10pm
• Easter Sunday - Closed
• Easter Monday - 8am to 8pm

Lidl

Lidl will open as normal on Good Friday, before closing completely on Easter Sunday. Easter Monday will observe special opening hours of between 8am and 8pm.

• Good Friday - 8am to 8pm
• Easter Saturday - 8am to 8pm
• Easter Sunday - Closed
• Easter Monday - 8am to 8pm

Tesco

The opening times for your local Tesco will depend on if it is a Superstore, Express, or Metro store. You can check opening hours at Tesco here.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's will operate as normal on Good Friday and Saturday March 30, but will be closed completely on Easter Sunday. Easter Monday will see the supermarket operate between the hours of 8am and 8pm, but opening times may differ depending on location and store type.

Here are Durham's Sainsbury's superstore hours:

• Good Friday - 8am to 10pm
• Easter Saturday - 8am to 9pm
• Easter Sunday - Closed
• Easter Monday - 8am to 8pm

Morrisons

Morrisons will observe special opening hours over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, open between 7am and 10pm on Good Friday, open as normal on Saturday, March 30, closed completely across England and Wales come Easter Sunday, and opening between 7am and 8pm come Easter Monday.

Here are Morrisons South Shields store opening hours for example:

• Good Friday - 7am to 10pm
• Easter Saturday - 7am to 10pm
• Easter Sunday - Closed
• Easter Monday - 7am to 8pm

Asda

Asda has also amended its opening hours over the Easter weekend, but your local store will differ dependent on location. For example, here are Gosforth's opening hours over the bank holiday:

• Good Friday - 6am to 10pm
• Saturday 30 March - 6am to 10pm
• Easter Sunday - Closed
• Easter Monday - 6am to 10pm
