Vernon Kay breaks silence over Tess Daly backlash on BBC Strictly Come Dancing

Tess Daly’s husband Vernon Kay has broken his silence on a BBC Strictly Come Dancing fan backlash to her outfit for the final.

Vernon spoke out, weighing in on her outfit choice as fans poked fun on Saturday night during the live BBC Strictly Come Dancing final.

Vernon proclaimed: "On absolute point tonight! What an amazing show! Love the outfit @TessDaly"

The star has recently become an ITV This Morning presenter, replacing Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby alongside Rochelle Humes.

On Twitter, one Strictly fan Sally said: "Nice to see Tess came straight from the spa to #Strictly in her dressing gown!"

Tina said on the social media channel: "#Strictly Clod looks very nice, Tess looks like she’s just left the spa and grabbed her robe by mistake!"

Katherine said: "10yr old son took one look at Tess’s outfit and said ‘bathroom robe’. #Fashionista #HesNotWrong #Strictly"

Claudia Winkleman and Tess presented the live final this weekend as Rose Ayling Ellis won the Glitterball Trophy alongside Giovanni Pernice.

Tess heartbreakingly opened the show with an update on AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington.

The pair were forced to withdraw from the contest through injury as Tess proclaimed: "Sadly AJ and Kai are not dancing tonight.

"AJ sustained an ankle injury early in the week and, despite treatment and rest, is unable to dance."
