The Ashes: BBC's Test Match Special cancelled after Covid case
The BBC’s Test Match Special was forced off air for the fourth day of the Adelaide Test after one of their employees tested positive for Covid, forcing the entire commentary team into isolation and leaving English listeners with Australian coverage.
Commentators and pundits from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) were also placed into quarantine and not permitted to go to the Adelaide Oval because they were deemed close contacts of the member of BBC staff. It meant that ABC’s radio coverage had to be done by a team in Perth which included Mitchell Johnson and Kim Hughes, the former Australia internationals, but had no English voices other than the BBC’s Simon Mann, from his hotel bedroom, explaining the situation to UK listeners.
