All eyes will be on England's injured talisman Ben Stokes at the Gabba in Brisbane on Friday, while paceman Ollie Robinson insists he will be fit and ready to fire.

Stokes and Robinson both pulled up sore on day two of the first Ashes test.

Stokes appeared to hurt his knee in an early fielding mishap and was clearly restricted for the rest of the day, while Robinson clutched at his leg and trudged off the ground after delivering his 18th over.

England's talismanic all-rounder looked to have claimed Australian danger man's wicket, but overstepped the mark.

Robinson, who returned to field but didn't bowl after his setback, tried to allay fears it was anything serious.

“My body is doing OK,” Robinson said.

“I came off for some strapping and maintenance. But I'll rest up tonight and come back tomorrow.”

England's bowling coach Jon Lewis, speaking after play, was unsure whether vice-captain Stokes would be cleared to bowl on Friday morning.

“I don't know. Ben will be assessed overnight by our medical team,” Lewis said.

“We'll see how he pulls up in the morning.”

Australia will resume at 343-7 on Friday, holding a 196-run lead.
