What radio station is the Ashes on How to listen live in the UK
England fans can expect a lot of late nights when the Ashes begins in Australia this week and supporters can tune into radio coverage on the BBC's Test Match Special.

It's crunch time for England as their campaign down under begins this week, as they seek to end a sorry record in Australia.

It's been 10 years since England last won the Ashes in the Southern Hemisphere and, in the decade since, england haven't even won a test series.

That leaves England as heavy underdogs for the contest but fans will hope it's not a tough viewing for the next month.

Considering the late nights, many fans may not want to stay up to watch the action - but could still keep up to date with the goings on by tuning in.

Here, we've got everything you need to know about radio coverage for the series.

What radio station is the Ashes on?

Ball-by-ball commentary of the series is provided by the BBC's Test Match Special for every match, which will be available on BBC 5 Live Sports Extra and Radio 4 LW.

You can also listen to the coverage via the BBC Sport website or via the BBC Sounds app, meaning you'll have access to the coverage wherever you go.

Test Match Special gets underway from 11pm on Tuesday, December 7th and can be expected on similar times daily.

The full schedule for BBC 5 Live Sports Extra can be found here.

How to watch the 2021/22 Ashes series

The 2021/22 Ashes series will be exclusive to BT Sport here in the UK.

If you're not a BT Sport subscriber, you can check out the latest BT TV packages here.

BT Sport is also available for both Sky TV and Virgin Media subscribers. Check out the latest Sky TV packages here. Check out the latest Virgin Media packages here.

While it sadly wouldn't cover the entire length of the series, BT Sport also offers 30-day 'Monthly Passes' for £25.

What is the Ashes schedule?

The first five days of action will be played in Brisbane, with the action beginning daily at midnight from Wednesday 8th December until Sunday 12th December.

England then head to Adelaide for the second test in what will present the biggest challenge for UK audiences as play is due to begin at 4am from December 16-20th.

Viewing times will then shift back towards a more accessible period for the third test in Melbourne, taking place from December 26th-30th.

In January, the fourth test will be played in Sydney from the 5-9th and the final test from January 14-18th is waiting for a new venue to be confirmed, having been moved from Perth due to coronavirus restrictions.
