Where was The Crow Girl filmed?
Although the original book was set in Stockholm, Sweden, the producers of the television adaptation looked to the West Country in the UK to locate the story.
Much of the filming took place in the city of Bristol and the surrounding area, beginning in February last year.
The former Bank of England building on Wine Street in the city became the Bristol Metropolitan Police Station.
Filming also took place around Castle Park in the city centre, the former shopping district which was bombed during the Second World War. The ruins of St Peter’s Church stands in the centre of the now green space.
Queens Square, Princes Wharf on Bristol Harbourside, The Gold Bar on Corn Street, Sunshine Café on Bedminster’s East Street, Greenbank Cemetery in Easton and The Royal Hotel on Gloucester Road in Avonmouth all featured as locations in the series too.
Film crews also ventured out of the city limits to the Somerset beach of Brean Sands for some of the shots.
Tony Wood, Co-CEO of production firm Buccaneer, sais: “When replacing Stockholm, the home of The Crow Girl in the novel, Bristol was always such an obvious choice.
“Its maritime past, historical importance, strong local socio-political identity, and the brilliant aesthetic diversity all played brilliantly into our story.
“And shooting in the city was a delight.
“The largely local crew was exceptional, allowing us to produce a high-end drama on a pretty-tight budget.”
