How many episodes of The Girl Before are there?

The Girl Before is a four-part series airing on consecutive nights this week.

It made its debut on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday, December 19 and will continue to air every night at the same time until Wednesday, December 22.

The second instalment will kick off at 9pm on Monday, December 20 with episodes being made available on BBC iPlayer after they've broadcast.

Discussing how the series differs from the book and what viewers can expect over four episodes, creator, writer and executive producer JP Delaney said: "Plot wise, it's simpler because we cut out some of the twists and turns. But it's extraordinary because I came into it completely relaxed about changing things, but it has ended up being very similar as an overall plot.

"The main difference is that the book is very much within its genre – it’s a thriller and I really wanted to make it a page turner, so it's all about the plot and the pace.

"In TV, you have a chance to unpack people’s characters a bit more and I would say that the scripts are more nuanced and character-driven than the book is, which is quite unusual for TV programmes. That’s been one of the most fun things about doing it."
