Who is in The Lost Daughter cast on Netflix starring alongside Olivia Colman

The new film The Lost Daughter is out now on streaming platform Netflix, featuring BAFTA and Academy Award-winning actor Olivia Colman.

The chilling drama follows the story of a mother (played by Colman) on holiday who has a mysterious past.

The Lost Daughter is filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut and it is adapted from Elena Ferrante’s novel of the same name.

Ahead of the Netflix release date, The Lost Daughter was also released in cinemas for a limited time from December 17.

Olivia Colman plays the main character, Leda, in The Lost Daughter, while American actor Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) plays Nina, a younger woman who Leda becomes obsessed with.

Irish actor Paul Mescal, known for his role in Normal People which earned him a British Television Academy Award, also stars in this new film.

In the movie, Mescal plays a fellow tourist who observes the fallout of Leda and Nina’s interactions.

Also featured in The Lost Daughter cast is Irish actor and singer Jessie Buckley, who plays the younger version of Leda as a young mother.

American actor Peter Sarsgaard plays college Professor Hardy and his wife, Maggie Gyllenhaal, is the director of the film.

Other actors in the cast include Ed Harris (Apollo 13), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Invisible Man), Dagmara Domińczyk (Rock Star), Jack Farthing (Poldark), Nikos Poursanidis (MI-5), and Ellie James (I May Destroy You).

The Lost Daughter also features some Greek and Italian actors, linking with the movie's setting of a holiday abroad in Greece. These actors include Vassilis Koukalani, Abe Cohen and Panos Koronis.

The film is a dramatic tale that examines the challenges and sacrifices of motherhood as flashbacks occur.
