Top Boy writer's dream comes true

TYRONE RASHARD is just like the rest of us, he can’t wait for the new season of Top Boy to kick off, only, his anticipation is centred on something a little different from the average fan.

You see, Rashard has been an integral cog in the wheels of production behind the Top Boy season 2 scenes, writing the scripts that viewers all over the world will soon be lapping up, line after line.

He told the Voice that his journey to becoming a full-fledged script writer was an unconventional one which was all kicked off by a lightbulb moment when he watched Top Boy in 2011.

Little did Rashard know then, that a chance meeting with Ian Katz – Chief content officer (C4), while he was working as a journalist, would enable his script writing dream to come to life almost a decade later.

Landing his first professional credits co-writing the forthcoming season of the UK’s most anticipated and acclaimed crime drama series, Rashard’s story is one of persistency and dogged determination.

The Hackney born writer is self-taught and since co-writing ‘Top Boy’, he currently has other scripts in development including a crime action thriller series based on a real-life event, as well as currently writing and co-producing an espionage thriller featuring international grime artist Skepta.
