Paul Merson says ‘phenomenal’ star Tottenham want to sign could play for Man City

Paul Merson has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur transfer target, Christian Eriksen, is a ‘phenomenal’ player, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (23/04/22 at 12:40 pm).
The 30-year-old faced his former side yesterday and Merson claimed that the Brentford star could play for ‘any club’, even the current English champions, Manchester City.
In January, Eriksen made an emotional return to football following his collapse at Euro 2020 last summer.

Brentford handed him the keys to a football pitch once more, after Italian law meant that he could no longer play in Serie A because their laws state that individuals, with an implanted defibrillator device, can’t compete.
Eriksen has wowed fans since donning Brentford colours and turned the London club’s fortunes around – winning five and drawing one game from his six starts.
Could a return to Spurs be on the cards in the summer? Only time will tell, as Merson thinks he can don the colours of any team in the world.
“I think any club could do with his type,” said Merson. “Even a Manchester City. I do. He could put the ball through the eye of the needle. His vision is as good as anybody’s. And he finds passes that other players can’t find.
“For any team, Eriksen would make them better. I am not saying he would play for Man City, but if you were struggling and teams are sitting ten behind a ball, if a Silva is having an off game and you bring him on.
“I think he is a phenomenal player. I think there will be a lot of clubs out there thinking ‘why didn’t we take him?’
“He’s perfect for Man City because they dominate football matches and he can put the ball through the eye of the needle. I don’t think it would happen, but it could.”

Ironically enough, it was Antonio Conte who signed Eriksen up from Tottenham when he was at Inter Milan.
Whilst things were difficult for the one-touch footballer during his early stages at the San Siro.
Things started to pick up, including winning the Serie A title under Conte last season, who is now looking to do his talking from the Spurs dugout.
There are suggestions that the Dane could move across London and return to the place he made a name for himself, as iNews report that Spurs are the most interested in signing the midfielder this summer.
